Charles "Charlie" Edward Spencer

Charles “Charlie” Edward Spencer, 87, of Martinsville, VA, passed Friday, August 19, 2022 at his home.
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 22^nd at 1:00pm at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery, 3241 Stones Dairy Rd, Bassett, VA 24055. Military Honors will be given by the Rockingham County Veterans Military Honor Guard. Visitation will be held following the service and other times at 204 Mathews Mill Rd., Martinsville.
Charlie was born July 16, 1935, in Henry County, VA, to the late Wise Ninevah Spencer and Lillian Oakley Spencer. Charlie served his country in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic. Charles attended Landmark Baptist Church in Collinsville.
Surviving is his daughter-in-law, Teresa Spencer of Martinsville; grandchildren, Matthew Spencer, Patrick Spencer; sisters, Shirley Horton of Collinsville, Joy Hodges of Ridgeway.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Harris Spencer in 2018; son, Franklin “Frankie” Spencer in 2022; brother, Harold Spencer in 2022.
