Cecil Anderson Wade, 78, of 290 Ward Road in Eden, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 8, at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA, with Reverend Billy Smith and Reverend Jerry Slemp officiating. Mr. Wade was born December 21, 1932 in Rockingham County, son of the late Seaboy and Ola Wade. He was a US Army veteran and was very proud to have served in the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1952. Mr. Wade had worked for Dan River Mills but later retired from Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving are his wife, Eva Wade of Eden; daughters, Selena W. Hanks of Charlotte, Phyllis Moore of Danville, VA and Teresa Ayscue of Roxboro; two sons, Rodger Dale Wade of Loris, SC and Irvin Corum of Eden; and brother, Jimmy Wade of Roanoke, VA. He was a loving "Papa" to his grandson, Joseph Hanks of Charlotte, among seven other grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis R. Wade; a sister, Margaret Ingold; and three brothers, Bud Wade, Hersel Wade and Marvin Wade.
