Carol Yvonne Clarke, 63, of Mayodan, passed away at Wesley Long Hospital on Monday, April 17, 2023.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 24 at 11:00am at Fair Funeral Home, Eden, NC. Burial will follow the service at Overlook Cemetery with a reception to follow at Morehead-Fair House. A visitation will be held from 3:00 - 5:00pm, Saturday, April 22 at Fair Funeral Home.

Carol was a 1978 graduate of Stoneville High School. She spent much of her career in the textile industry, working at Blue Bell, Bassett-Walker and UNIFI in Rockingham County. Carol was an active member of her community, serving as youth Sunday School teacher and Nursery Aide at Central Christian Church in Eden, NC. Her service did not end with her congregation, and Carol was well known to show up with a helping hand for local school events. She proudly and selflessly dedicated much of her life to the loving support of her friends and family, never failing to drive someone to an appointment, bring a warm meal, or share a loving word. Carol’s love brought warmth and happiness to all.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Vance Clarke; daughter, Stephanie Michelle McDaniel (husband, Hudson), of Stoneville; son, Kevin Daniel Clarke (wife, Savannah), of Augusta; son, Ryan Michael Clarke (wife, Moriah), of Seoul, Korea; sisters, Patricia Grogan and Judy Harris of Stoneville; brothers, James Grogan (wife, Sandy) of Penhook, Virginia, and Charles Grogan (wife, Ann) of Stoneville; sister-in-law, Betty Hodges (husband, Roger) of Eden; mother, Mary Lue Grogan of Stoneville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol was a proud grandmother, and never missed an opportunity to share a photo and proud story of her four precious grandchildren, Charlotte and Catherine Clarke, Pippa and Salem McDaniel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles H Grogan; brother, Stephen Grogan; sister-in-law, Sherry Grogan.

Carol’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the service and love provided by the doctors and nurses of both Annie Penn Hospital and Wesley Long Hospital during her hospital care.
