Carlis Junior "C. J." Martin

Carlis Junior "C. J." Martin, 92, of 500 Carolyn Court in Eden, passed away Monday evening, November 13, 2017, at his home. 

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 17, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  Full military rites will be conducted by the Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.

Mr. Martin was born on February 19, 1925 in Rockingham County, NC, son of the late Samuel Abner Martin and Minnie Smith Martin.  He was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Martin was a World War II US Army veteran who served in Europe.  He was a retiree of E. I. Dupont in Martinsville, VA and was a past master of Masonic Lodge #136 in Eden, NC.

He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Hazel Willard Martin; sons, Tommy Martin and wife, Sheree of Greensboro and Sammy Martin and wife, Brenda of Madison;  daughter, Tanya Scearce and husband, Terry of Statesville;  five grandchildren;  five great-grandchildren;  one great-great-grandchild;  sister-in-law, Betty Martin; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis Martin and Stafford Martin and sisters, Irene Meeks and Elmira Priddy.
