C. Orville Light, age 86 of 123 Grant Street, Eden passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Eden. Burial will follow at Dan View Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard and US Marine Corps. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4 - 6 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Orville was born September 24, 1931 in the Spray section of Eden, to the late Clinton Oliver Light and Anna Barker Light. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean War. Mr. Light received his undergraduate education from Elon University and graduated with honors from Wake Forest University Law School. He practiced law for 55 years and received an award for 50 years of service by the NC State Bar Association.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was a sister and 2 brothers.
Surviving are wife, Yvonne Spain Light of the home; son, Darrell Light and wife Angela of Brown Summit; daughter Leila Light Klann and husband Corky of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Michael Meeks (Bekki), Alex Daniel Light (Tracy), Stephen Talbert (Amanda), Lauren Akridge, Joshua Klann, Jennifer Iversen (Seth); great-grandchildren, Christian and Harley Meeks, Brianna and Hunter Talbert and Kaleb Akridge; 3 nieces and 4 nephews.
