Burnie Barton Harter

Burnie Ann Barton Harter, 87, of 1134 Harris Street in Eden, passed away Thursday evening, August 22, 2019, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, August 25, at Smyrna Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harter was born September 7, 1931 in Leaksville, NC, to the late W. P. "Pat" Barton and Alpha Fulcher Barton.  She was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church where she served as the church pianist for many years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Debra Prather and husband, Gene, of New Bern and Mea Alderman-Overby and husband, Ronnie, of Eden;  brother, J. P. Barton and wife, Pam, of Staunton, VA;  and her little canine love, Daisy.

In addition to her parents and her step-mother, Lillie Cox Barton,  she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harter;  sisters, Hellan Losee and Mildred Cook;  and her little dachshund, Hannah.
