Brenda Wright Moore

June 13, 1944 — August 31, 2018

Our Circle is broken. Our precious sister, Brenda Wright Moore, of Evergreen Court in Eden, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday September 3, at Leaksville United Methodist Church, where she was an active and dedicated member, with burial to follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Reidsville.  The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home of Philip and Louise Price at 414 Church Street.

Brenda was born on June 13, 1944, in Leaksville, NC, to the late Warren and Ellie Wright.  Her work life encompassed several long term careers, beginning as secretary to Dr. C.F. Tulloch, corporate secretary at Spray Cotton Mills, and ultimately retiring from the ladies’ department of Belk.  Wherever she went she spread joy, and was loved by everyone she encountered.

Brenda was happiest in her kitchen, cooking up Southern specialties for all of her family and friends, and was especially famous for her strawberry jam which she shared with everyone.  Her beautiful handwriting was put to good use in sending cards of encouragement to anyone she knew was in need of a kind word of hope or sympathy.  She continued these words of encouragement in her numerous posts on Facebook, connecting her to an ever larger network of friends.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, who loved her so much; Bill (Peggy) Wright, Tom (Frankie) Wright, Florence Price, Arlene (Joe) Roberts, Martha Wright, and Louise (Philip) Price.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, including her special Ashtyn.  She is also survived by her step-daughters, Tracey Ross and Ashley Moore, and step-grandsons, Griffin and Cameron Ross.  She cherished her Moore Family – Nelson and Glenda Moore, Carolyn and (the late) David Evans, Michael and Cheryl Moore, and Linda and (the late) George Lothian.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Harold C. Moore.

Her family is eternally grateful for the loving care shown by the many caring doctors, nurses and aides who worked through the last few months to make her well, especially Dr. Edward Hawkins and Carrie Harvey.  We are indebted always to the angels at Hospice who gave Brenda and all of us the peace to make it through this difficult time.  Forever in our hearts are A.C. and Tammy Brock, who have ministered to us in so many ways.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281 Reidsville, NC 27320, or to Leaksville United Methodist Church, 603 Henry Street, Eden, NC  27288.
