2nd Timothy 4:6-8.

“6. For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

Born in Spray, now Eden, on October 22, 1942 to the late Willy “Bill” and Vesta Shelton Hopkins, Brenda lived in Eden until she moved to Reidsville in 2025. She worked most of her life as a waitress at many of Eden’s favorite restaurants; including Town & Country, The Mar-Gre, and The Reid’s House (both in Eden and Reidsville). She spent many happy years at the counter in Reidsville.

She loved the Lord and was a founding member of Brighter Days Ministries where she spent many a happy Sunday worshipping the Lord with her church family. Brenda loved playing cards with friends - she would play with anyone who wanted to play. Brenda had the compacity to make anyone feel welcome and loved; she never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life Ralph “Ham” Roach, her three brothers Elroy, Leroy, Willie “Cheese” Hopkins, niece Teresa Hopkins Joyner, great nephews Chuck and Chris McMichael, and Jeffery Stafford.

She is survived by her children Sheryl & Dale Gusler, Wayne Knight, Virginia Martin, step-sons David (Dale), Jamie (Shelby), and Matt Roach, all of Eden; grandchildren Josh and Mandy Gusler, Brandon and Katie Roach, Brianna Roach, and Ben Roach. Her great-granddaughter Faithlynn Gusler was her heart and joy. Her nieces Lora (Jerry) McMichael, Sheila Gordon. She is also survived by many special friends; Jan Sexton, Tanya Harris, Mike and Peggy Beard.

Donations can be made in her memory to Brighter Days Ministries, c/o Treasurer 805 Spring Street Reidsville, NC 27320; St Judes Hospital, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family extends a special thank you the nurses of the ICU at Annie Penn for their kindness and love shown during this time.
