Betty Lou Griffin Brown

Betty Lou Griffin Brown, age 86 of Shallotte, NC and formerly of Eden passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at UNC Hospital Chapel Hill.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm Monday October 26th  at Dan-View Cemetery.  Betty will lie-in-repose at Fair Funeral Home on Sunday, October 25th from 12 noon to 6:00pm.  The service will be live-streamed on Fair Funeral Home’s Face Book page. The family will be meeting at other times at 321 Live Oak Road, Reidsville.

Mrs. Brown was born August 8, 1934 to the late Writches Thomas Griffin and Ollie Savannah Bowers Griffin.  She was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Eden. Betty loved the outdoors and the beach. She enjoyed camping in her early years and going to the flea markets.  Betty worked at Dan River Mills and Leaksville Woolen Mills early on in her life and later became a homemaker for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette C. Brown, Sr. and son Everette “Bo” C. Brown, Jr.

Surviving are daughter, Reece Anna Reece (James) of Reidsville; son, Wayne T. Kennedy of Eden; partner, John Conley of Shallotte, NC ; grandchildren, Leigh Anna Smithey ( Will), Benjamin Ray Ferguson, James Ray Reece II and Brianna Brown; great-grandchildren, April Pulliam, Josh Pulliam, Blake Ferguson, Cody Ferguson (Elisabeth), Savannah Walker (Hunter) and Ashleigh Smithey USN; great-great-granddaughter Vada Jade Ferguson.
