Betty L. Janney Peoples

Betty L. Janney Peoples, 89, of Michigan, formerly of Eden, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at Ascencion St. John’s Hospital in Detroit.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Monday, August 7, 2023, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.

Betty was born May 16, 1934, in Spray, NC, to the late Martin T. Murphy and Lelia Pack Murphy. She was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. She worked as a Nurse’s Assistant at Morehead Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sue Eichorst of St. Clair Shores, MI; sons, George D. Janney, Jr. of Stuart, FL, Michael A. Janney of Corpus Christi, TX, Timothy L. Janney of Dryden, MI, Ricky Janney of Reidsville, NC, Robert Janney of Reidsville, NC, David W. Janney of Reidsville, NC; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her first husband, George D. Janney, Sr., and second husband, Larry S. Peoples; son, Dennis M. Janney; daughter, Mary Anne Dattolo; sisters, Christine Burchell and Helen Wilson; brother, Jack Murphy.
