Betty Jean Walker Mabe

Betty Jean Walker Mabe, 80, of Eden, passed Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, with burial to follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA. A visitation will be held 5-7pm Friday, May 20, 2022, at Fair Funeral Home, 432 Boone Rd, Eden, NC 27288.

Betty was born March 31, 1942, to the late Lewis Webb Walker and Lottie Gray Odell Walker. She was a graduate of Drewy Mason High School and South Eastern Community College. Betty worked for more than 30 years in the apparel industry, later working and retiring as manager of Southern Select Credit Union. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking. Betty loved going on day trips, going out to eat, and discovering new restaurants.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Darrell Mabe (Beth) of Clemmons, NC; brothers, Jerry Walker (Michelle) of Eden, NC, David Walker of Ridgway, VA, Pete Walker (Blanche) of Eden, NC; sister, Joy Cooper of Newberry, SC; nieces and nephews, Kelly Novak (Ray), Louis Walker, Shane Walker, Lisa Hundley (Chad), Stacy Gelinas (David), Jennifer Cooper, Michael Walker (Teresa); numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Everette Mabe; daughter, Patricia Lynn Mabe Ikner; brothers, Lewis Walker and Howard Walker; nephew, Jamie Walker.
