Betty Jean Gillie Cruise

Betty Jean Gillie Cruise, 84, formerly of Eden, N.C., passed away on Friday, December 22nd at Sovah Health Hospital in Danville, VA.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 27th at 2:00pm in the Fair Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at the Dan View Cemetery.

Betty was born May 21, 1939 in Draper (Eden) N.C. to the late Henry C. Gillie and Fannie Wray Gillie. She lived her early years in Draper and more recently in Danville, Va.  Betty retired from Fieldcrest Mills and was a longtime member of the former Draper United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is a brother, Frank Gillie of Wilmington, NC;  numerous nieces and nephews and step-children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peyton Cruise and by ten brothers and sisters.
