Betty Hopkins Hartness

Betty Ruth Hopkins Hartness, 89, passed away December 10, 2021 at her home in Eden, NC.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 15th at 2:00pm in the Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden Cemetery in Reidsville, NC.

Betty was born February 27, 1932, to the late Richard Green Hopkins and Texie Mae Tedder Hopkins.  She was a member of Charity Baptist Church.  Betty worked as a weaver in the Fieldcrest Mills most of her life. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Animals were so cared for by Betty that if she saw a stray animal, it went home with her, if possible.

Betty is survived by her four children; Linda Caudle (Bobby), Betsy Hancock, Melvin Austin and Tim Austin; she is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; her loving pet Goldie.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hartness; sisters, Louise Cooke and Rosemary Austin; brother’s, Ernest Hopkins, Roy Hopkins, Buster Hopkins and Junior Hopkins.

The family wants to extend a special “Thank You” to her grandson Donnie Hancock of the home, for taking care of Betty.
