Betty Gatewood Moore Walker

February 21, 1934 — March 27, 2023

Betty Gatewood Moore Walker, 89, of Eden, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Gibson House, Hospice of Rockingham County.
Graveside services will be conducted at Ridgeview Cemetery in Eden at 12 noon, Wednesday, March 29, 2023. There will be no formal visitation. The public may come by to show your respects and sign the register from 1pm-4pm Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Fair Funeral Home.

A native of Leaksville, NC, and Rockingham County, Betty was a daughter of the late William D. and Beatrice Gatewood. She worked for E.I. Dupont in Martinsville, Va. After retiring from Dupont, she pursued a Real Estate career in Rockingham County and later in Ocean Isle Beach. She was residing in Brookdale North Memory Care prior to her most recent declining health. The staff remember her as being active, talkative, singing, and always interacting with everyone around her. She was of the Baptist faith and was a former member of King Memorial Baptist, Fellowship Baptist, and more recently, Osborne Baptist Church in Eden, NC. She loved singing gospel hymns and singing in the choir. She always looked forward to family gatherings and liked to drive around and visit her friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Glenn Moore and Arnold “Butch” Walker, Jr.; her son, Gregory “Gregg” Moore; sisters, Mary Ann Walker of Eden and Donna Peeples of Winston-Salem; and a brother, Carlton Cox of Eden.

Survivors include her son, Larry Moore (Deborah) of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren, Gregory Moore (Shawna) of High Point, NC, Christopher Moore (Laura) of Pageland, SC, Lorie Willette of Fayetteville, NC; great-grandchildren, Jacob Moore, U.S. Navy Hawaii, Nicolas Moore (Ashley), U.S. Army Fort Story, VA, Clara Moore, Zoe Moore, and Oliver Moore of High Point, NC, Allison, Andrew, and Katie Willette of Fayetteville, NC, and Savannah Bracey (Conner) of Anchorage, Alaska; great-great-grandchild, Jayne Moore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
