Betty Carter, 88, of Eden, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She was born on March 20, 1938, in Leaksville-Spray, North Carolina, to the late James and Annie Keener.
Betty was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Osborne Baptist Church in Eden since 1965. Her family, her friends, and her service to God were all meaningful parts of her life.
Betty retired from Fieldcrest Cannon and later continued working at Osborne Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Leon Carter, who passed away in 2019.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Kelli Knapp and husband, Robin; and her sons, Scott Carter and Derek Carter and wife, Michelle. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Maegan Glynn and husband, John; and Michaela Glynn and fiancé, Matt. She is survived by her great-grandson, Kylan Glynn.
Betty will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, faithful Christian, and cherished friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Fair Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Betty remember her with a donation to Ancora Compassionate care, formally known as Hospice of Rockingham County.
