Bernice Smart Lillard

Bernice Smart Lillard, 89, passed away June 4, 2013 at Jacob's Creek Nursing Center in Madison.

A graveside service will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, June 20, in Danview Cemetery.

Ms. Lillard was born July 31, 1923 in Rockingham County, NC, the daughter of the late Millard and Ada Vipperman Smart. She was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills.

She is survived by her two sons, Charles Lillard and wife, Trudy of Eden and Herman Lillard and wife, JoAnn of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Kerman and Bernard Smart.

There will be no formal visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
