Benjamin Francis Wade, Jr., 78, of 685 Huntington Trail in Cascade, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, March 24, 2016, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 26, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hunt's Family Cemetery with Military Honors being performed by the NC National Guard Honor Guard.
Mr. Wade was born August 4, 1937 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Benjamin "Binky" F. Wade,Sr. and Virginia Williams Wade. He was a US Army veteran and a former engineer for Merck, Incorporated. He loved golfing, deep sea fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Wade was a member of Willis Memorial Baptist Church in Cascade, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy Hunt Wade, of the home; daughter, Candy Lewis of Danville; seven grandchildren, Angela Smith, Britni Gelinas and husband, Don, Lauren Lewis, Carla Jo Booth, Leslie Lewis, Will Lewis, and Wade Lewis; three great-grandchildren, Savannah Kallam, Grey Gelinas, and Charlotte Gelinas; sisters, Carrie Hutcherson and husband, Garland, and Sonja Hamrick; brother, William Michael Wade and wife, Peggy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Tammy Jo Baker and Jodi Booth.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday
(10 - 11 AM) at Fair Funeral Home.
