Barbara Radford Cox, 79, of 121 Bradford Street in Eden, passed away Tuesday evening, October 23, 2012 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 26, at First Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Cox was born May 8, 1933 in Draper, NC, daughter of the late Eldridge Gabriel Radford and Lucy Inez Stallings Radford. She was a life long member of First Church of the Brethren, and a member of Friends Club, member and past president of the Homemakers Extension Club and a volunteer with Morehead Memorial Hospital, having over 8000 volunteer hours logged. Mrs. Cox was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills after 40 years of service.

She is survived by her son, Paul Franklin Wilson of the home; daughters, Deborah K. Whitley and husband, Danny of Eden, Patricia W. Roach and husband, Glenn of Ruffin, Katherine W. Bridges and husband, John of Ruffin, and Velna Richardson and husband, Joe of Eden; two brothers, Wilford Radford and wife, Peggy and Paul "Grady" Radford and wife, Zenella; sisters, Elaine Burchett and husband, John of Eden and Sibyl Beaver and husband, Junius of Madison; six grandchildren, Michelle Craig and husband, Rocky, Elizabeth Whitley, Aaron Roach and wife, Hope, Anna Apple and husband, Tommy, John Paul Bridges and friend Jennifer Carey, Jessica Villenueva and husband, Joshua; and nine great-grandchildren, Hayden and Hailey Roach, Eric and Emma Craig, Caitlyn, Christen and Zakary Apple and Ava and Kekoa Villenueva.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands; brother, Junior Radford; and a special niece, Linda Sparks.

The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice of Rockingham County and to her caregivers, Misty and Vee, for their care and support.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM on Thursday evening at Fair Funeral Home.
