Barbara Jean Hopper Gammons

Barbara Jean Hopper Gammons, age 72, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 3, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, October 5, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Barbara was born in Eden on July 27, 1939 to the late Billie and Frances Owen Hopper. She graduated from Tri-City High School in 1957 and from Appalachian State University in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Gammons on August 1, 1959. Barbara taught at Morehead High School until she retired. Barbara was a very special lady and was blessed to have many close friends and family members. She is survived by her sons, Vic Gammons and wife, Kathy of West Jefferson, NC, Jason Gammons of Burlington, NC and Chad Gammons and wife, Tiffany of Eden. Meme Barbara dearly loved her six grandchildren, Katie and Sam Gammons of West Jefferson and Scott, Samantha, Stephen and Seth Gammons of Eden. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Carroll Gammons and her parents, Billie and Frances Hopper. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at her home.
