Barbara Brown Black, 83, of 341 Sunset Drive in Eden, passed away Sunday evening, November 22, 2015, of lung cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, November 25, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.
Barbara was born September 12, 1932 in the Spray section of Eden, NC to the late William "Bill" Brown and Tura Clark Brown. She was a member of Spray Baptist Church and was a 1991 retiree of DuPont, Inc. After her retirement she worked for Annie Penn Memorial Hospital until 2015.
She is survived by her son, Steve Black and wife, Vicki; daughter, Kim Kapps; brother, Owen Brown and wife, JoAnn, all of Eden; sister, Camille Brown Smart and husband, Pete of Locust Grove, GA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cox and husband, Robert of Fort Belvoir, VA, Jessica Walker, Emily Henning, and Jason Kapps; seven great-grandchildren; five nieces and two nephews; brother-in-law, Shirley Black of Smithfield, NC; and her dear friend, Julia Moore of Eden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Black; two sisters, Mary Ruth Brock of Martinsville, VA and Billie Jo Black of Eden; and her brother, Van Clark Brown of McDonough, GA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday (11am - 12noon) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
