Barbara "Babs" Jarrell Payne

Barbara “Babs” Jarrell Payne, 63, of Eden, passed February 22, 2022, at her home.

A memorial service will be held 1pm, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, with visitation being held 1 hour prior to the service.

Babs was born November 9, 1958, in Leaksville (now Eden), NC, to the late Billy Wayne Jarrell, Sr, and Peggy Austin Jarrell. She is a graduate of Morehead High School and a member of Osborne Baptist Church. She worked in case management at Rockingham County Department of Social Services until her illness.  She was a proud Mary Kay salesperson. Babs loved and was devoted to her church. She gave her time and care to many causes over the years, working with the elderly, and continuing her volunteer work even after becoming sick. She will be remembered by those who knew her as being sweet, kind, and loving.

Babs is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Michael Anthony Payne; children, Christi Carter (Greg), Christopher Gunter (Glenda); grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alyssa, and Gabe; aunt, Judith Austin Barrett; uncle, Robert Edgar Austin (Deborah); several cousins and numerous friends.

In addition to her parents, Babs was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne Jarrell and Kenny Jarrell; sister, Donna Lineberry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Osborne Baptist Church, 326 E Stadium Dr, Eden, NC 27288, in Babs name.
