A proud Tar Heel, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma, Order of the Old Well and Distinguished Military Graduate of the Class of 1954 from UNC Chapel Hill.
After graduation, he met and married the girl of his dreams Enid Joyce Slack while serving in the U.S. Air Force. His experience in the Air Force led him to a long career with GE, developing computers for business applications. He and his young family moved around the country during his time with GE. He eventually landed in Cleveland, Ohio, to lend his computer expertise to banking. He continued that work and started his own company in Birmingham, AL. He and Joyce retired in Sarasota, FL., where they spent the majority of their retirement years traveling the world. They enjoyed their explorations and made many friends everywhere they went.
He was a former member of North Spray Christian Church.
An explorer of life and seeker of knowledge, he is pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 64 years and his siblings and their spouses, Velma Newnam (Garland), Ethel Ray (Rufus), Numa David Redmon, Jr. (Jeanette), Helen Parker (George), Frances Robertson (Ophus), and Harold Redmon (Faye).
He leaves his memory to be cherished by his daughter, Wynn Redmon of Jacksonville, son, Randy Redmon (Aileen) of Atlanta, grandsons, Dean Nordhielm (Jessie), Robert Redmon (Felicity), Aaron Redmon (Riley) and great-granddaughters, Erin, Emma and Ellie Nordhielm as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charitable donations in his memory may be made to the Carolina Fund at UNC Chapel Hill or a charity of the giver’s choice.
