April Hopkins Shelton

April Lea Hopkins Shelton, 58, after a long illness with cancer, passed on May 17, 2024, with loving family by her side.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 2-3pm. 

April was born April 4, 1966 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Ernest L. Hopkins and Margie “Polly” Cook Hopkins. She attended Liberty Baptist Church. April worked at Sturm, Ruger, & Co. in Mayodan, NC, in manufacturing. She also worked in the Pharmacy at Wal-Mart for many years. April was of Baptist faith and loved the Lord. She enjoyed the beach and family gatherings. April was an author, publishing five books as A. H. Shelton. She loved her children and especially her granddaughter, Destiny.

April was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Surviving are her sons, Brandon Holley of the home, Jeremiah Stone (Crystal) of Danville, VA; grandchild, Destiny Marie Hankins; sisters, Nancy Dishmon of Eden, Margie Shively of Eden; brother, Richard Hopkins (Hazel) of Eden. 

In addition to her parents, April is preceded in death by her sister, Diana Shively.
