Annie Mae Martin Young, 96, of Eden, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving family, and died peacefully at the home of her son in Stoneville, NC.
Mrs. Young will be honored at a memorial service at a later date due to pandemic restrictions.
A native of Leaksville, NC, Annie was born August 30, 1923 to the late Thomas Richard Martin and Annie Thompson Martin. She was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills and a faithful member of Dan River Wesleyan Church. Her greatest joys in life were reading her Bible, sitting on her porch swing, and spending time with her family. Her loving spirit, fervent prayers, and faithful devotion to Jesus leave behind a legacy that we will forever cherish.
She is survived by her sons Curtis Cassell (Dixie) of Stoneville and Jim Cassell (Anna) of Eden; daughter Joy Walker (Gary) of Sutherland, Virginia; stepson Donald Young of Daleville, Virginia; son-in-law George Fisher of Eden; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; all of whom loved her so very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lawson Young; brother, John Richard Martin; daughter, Sandra Cassell Fisher; stepdaughter Barbara Young Purdy; son-in-law Gary Craven; and grandson Sean Lawson Young. She longed for the day that she would be reunited in Heaven once again with her loved ones.
The family would like to thank her son Curtis (known to many as Butch) and his wife Dixie for the wonderful care they took of our beloved Grandma. We would also like to thank Hospice of Rockingham County for your kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC, 27375 or to Curtis and Dixie’s wonderful church New Life Chapel, 2990 Settle Bridge Road, Stoneville, NC, 27048.
