Annie Cook Sands Pyron, 94 formerly of Front Street, Eden but for the last 7 years on Billie Harris Street, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, November 6, at Draper Christian Church with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens with Minister Bob Johnson officiating.
She was born July 15, 1921 in Aiken Summit, VA to the late Nelson and Betty Hancock Cook. She was a homemaker and member of Draper Christian Church.
Annie will be remembered for her loving and giving nature, her beautiful smile and always ready to help someone in need.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husbands, Willie Morris Sands who was killed in action during WWII and her second husband of 64 years, Herman B. Pyron; son Norris Lee Sands; granddaughter, Terri Lynn Sands; daughter-in-law, Mary Pyron; brother, John Clay Cook; half-brothers, Pilot Cook, Walter Cook and Gus Cook; sisters, Ethel Frazier and Elizabeth Hale; half-sisters, Maude Hooper, Glady Boulding, Agnes McNeely, Lillie Adkins, Betty Robertson and Carrie McQuire.
Surviving are sons, Alton R. Pyron, Sr. and Herman Lee Pyron, Sr.; daughters, Shirley Stone and husband Billy and Joyce P. Farmer ; grandsons, Jesse Stone, Jr., Herman L. Pyron, Jr., Alton R. Pyron, Jr. and Samuel Gourley, Jr.; granddaughters, Sharon Wofford and husband Derrick , Lisa Sands, Patricia Powell and husband Don, Brandy Smith and husband Danny, Angela Steele and Melinda Horn ; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 pm at Fair Funeral Home.
