Ann Heffinger Wilson, 83, of Eden passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at UNC Rockingham Rehab and Nursing in Eden.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Overlook Cemetery in Eden. A visitation will be held at 1pm, one hour prior to the service, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.
Ann was born February 2, 1940, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late James Willie Heffinger and Sallie Betty King Heffinger. She graduated from Tri City High School, class of 1958. Ann worked at Karastan Rug Mill for 53 years, until her retirement, in Mill Accounting. She was a member of Kings Highway Christian Church. She served in numerous roles; Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, choir, Missions Secretary and Treasurer.
She was a member of the National Secretaries Association for several years and held various positions. Ann was also a founding member of the MHS Band Boosters and served as President.
Ann was an avid bowler, participating in league bowling for years and winning many trophies. She also qualified to go to the State Tournament two years.
She loved spending time with her family. She loved to travel with her best friend, Betty McGavisk and loved walking on the beach. She enjoyed watching the UNC Tarheels play basketball, and shopping at Belk.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Al Wilson (Maryanna) of Charlotte; daughter, Lisa Wilson Mabe (Thomas) of Eden; grandchildren, Alan T. Mabe of Eden, Erica L. Mabe of Concord; granddog, Hootie; beloved niece and family, Judy Joyce, Danny, Christie and Justin. Ann is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Josephine Heffinger of Ridgeway, Bobbie Sue Wilson of Eden, Patsy Horsley of Eden, Brenda Hopper of Eden, Modene Willis of Summerfield, Irene Eanes of Roanoke; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her sisters, June Robertson, Sunshine Bryant, Elizabeth Curry, Daisy Ruth Heffinger, Polly Anderson; brothers, James Gayther Heffinger, William Hughes Heffinger.
The family would like to issue a special thanks to Jean Holt and her family for the exceptional care and love they gave her over the last two years.
