Angie Thompson Cox, 87, of 314 W. Kings Hwy, passed away Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 8 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cox was born January 21, 1924 in Floyd County, Virginia, daughter of the late William Jeffery and Virgie Lawrence Thompson. She was a member of Dan River Primitive Baptist Church. She was a member of the Golden Age Club and attended the Quilters Guild. Surviving are her sons, Garry Cox and wife, Karen and Barry Cox, of Eden; daughter Becky O'Leary of Eden; brothers, Arlie Thompson, Merlin Thompson, and Bain Thompson, all of Floyd, VA, and Breeman Thompson of Tennessee; six grandchildren, Christopher Cox, William Cox, James Cox, Todd Wilson, Joseph O'Leary, and Erin O'Leary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Thomas Monroe Cox; brothers, Sherman Thompson and Harold Thompson; and two sisters, Una Thompson and Eleanor Kilduff. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Garry, 165 Malibu Street in Eden.
