Alvin Eldridge Smith

Alvin Eldridge Smith, 81 of Eden, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at Ancora Compassionate Care’s Gibson House in Reidsville.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, November 21, 2025 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.

Alvin was born December 26, 1943, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to Joseph Eldridge Smith and Pauline Smith Smith. He was a faithful member of Chatham Heights Church of Christ. Alvin was a retired City of Eden Fireman. He enjoyed farming and camping and loved his two fur babies, Rascal and Coco. Alvin was a devoted husband, father, beloved grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his loving wife, Sandra Stewart Smith of the home; children, Stephanie Dawn Smith Slaughter (Jeff) of Eden, Sabrina Smith Kennedy (Richard) of Kernersville; grandchildren, Keelan Slaughter and Kenna Slaughter of Eden, Yeatts Culley of Kernersville; precious great-granddaughter, Saylor Slaughter of Eden; sister, Gail Smith of Eden; sister-in-law, Linda J. Stewart of Greensboro; nephew, Scott Smith of Eden; special cousin, Randall Meadows (Mary) of Eden.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Eldridge Smith and Pauline Smith Smith; and brother, Steve Smith (Brenda).
