Alexandra Laverne McGee

January 23, 1992 — September 3, 2024

Eden

Alexandra LaVerne “Sasha” McGee was born on January 23, 1992, in Silver Spring, Maryland to the late Gail McGee and Kelly Porter. She is survived on her mother’s side by her sister Tiffany R. Bostic, cousin Seth M. McGee, Aunt Sheila D. McGee, and Uncle Edward W. Wallace, III. On her father’s side, Sasha is survived by her sisters Merissa Lynn Porter, Tekia Nicole White, Karla Marie Press-Porter, and her brother Nicholas Aaron Porter. In addition to her mother, Sasha is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother LaVerne Woodson McGee and maternal aunt Cheryl McGee Wallace. Many loving extended family and friends also grieve her passing.

While growing up as part of a close-knit and loving family in the Maryland cities of Silver Spring, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, and Rockville, Sasha was exposed to the arts and developed a love of music at an early age. Living in the Metro DC area gave her opportunities to explore her musical talent, which included singing as a member of the Children’s Chorus of Washington where she performed in recitals locally, including for the Obamas at the White House, and touring abroad in Italy and South America. Sasha was a bright child, and a smart student as evidenced by her academic accomplishments. She graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 2010, attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA in 2016. She then earned an MBA from the University of Maryland University College in 2019. Her faith in God was nurtured at home and as she worshiped the Lord with her family at Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, MD.

Upon arrival in heaven, Sasha no doubt heard the Lord Jesus call her “My child,” Gail shout “Alex,” Cheryl say, “Hi Precious,” and Nani cry “Hi Hadda!”

To my loved ones,

I know you’re reading this because I am no longer among the earthly living. And I know that my presence will be greatly missed and my death at a young age will be deeply mourned. I know you all loved me and I also know that many happy memories of me will be cherished and treasured. But I want you to know this: because my Redeemer lives, I live! And if Jesus is also your Lord and Savior, you will see me again. Grieve with that hope. To God be all glory, honor, and praise. Be blessed

Love you,

Sasha
