Alease Pruitt Moore

Laura Alease Pruitt Moore, 99 of Ruffin, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday, August 22, 2025 at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruffin, officiated by Elder Jimmy Gray. Visitation will be held at Fair Funeral Home from 5-7pm Thursday, August 21, 2025. At other times, the family will be at her home.

Alease was the oldest of 8 children born to the late Charlie Allen and Zona McKinney Pruitt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Moore; son, Linton Moore; grandson, Jason Moore; brother, John Frank Pruitt and sister, Betty Ann Peters.

Surviving are children, June Strader (Percy) of Reidsville, NC, Charles Moore (Pam) of Roxboro, NC, and Debbie Mills (Allen) of Ferrum, VA; daughter-in-law, Rita Moore; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Charles Pruitt (Faye) of Bon Aqua, TN, Jimmy Pruitt (Joan) of Reidsville, NC, and Wayne Pruitt (Dee) of Florence, SC; sisters, Barbara Newton of Lafayette, LA, and Linda Setliff (Jimmy) of Reidsville, NC.

Alease was a member of Dan River Primitive Baptist Church. She loved her church family. She graduated from Ruffin High School in 1943. Alease retired after working several years at Burlington Industries. She and Carl raised tobacco as well. She enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flowers growing around the house. She enjoyed cooking and could make delicious meals from simple ingredients. In her later years, she loved to read, sew and quilt, often making things to give others.
