Agnes Adkins Martin

November 26, 1922 — September 12, 2025

The family of Agnes Adkins Martin announces with deep sorrow her passing on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 102. A native of Eden, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Clyde C. Adkins and Nellie Vest Adkins. She was married to the late Robert “Barney” W. Martin, Sr. for 58 years and had one son, the late Robert W. Martin, Jr. Late siblings include brother Clyde “Sonny” (Monnie) Adkins, sisters Iris (Ralph) Patton and Nell (Mel) Finch, and niece Judy Patton.

Survivors include daughter-in-law Karen Martin, grandchildren Jonathan (Juliana) Martin, Hannah Martin, Wesley (Christina) Martin, Heather (Cliff) Harris, Christopher (Amber) Martin, and several great grandchildren. Additional survivors include cousin Butch (Brenda) Carpenter, nephews Lewis Finch, David Finch, and Chip Adkins, and nieces Sally Winslow, Valerie Coble, and Meriweather Young.

She received nurses training from Johns Hopkins Hospital and worked as a registered nurse for many years. She was a longtime member at First United Methodist Church in Eden, NC. She enjoyed playing card games, reading, spending time with family, and camping trips to Lake Junaluska. Agnes “Nana” Martin will be remembered for her youthful spirit, loyal friendship, and dedication to her faith.

Burial and graveside service will be held on Monday, September 15th, 2025 at Dan View Cemetery in Eden, North Carolina at 3:30 PM.
